BACKGROUND

C. Eric Plumlee is a native of Hampton Roads who was born in Norfolk and raised in Virginia Beach. He graduated from Frank W. Cox High School in 1988, Virginia Tech in 1992 and the Regent University School of Law in 1997. Mr. Plumlee’s practice is diverse, but focuses most heavily on Family law matters such as Divorce, Equitable Distribution, Custody, Visitation, Support and Adoption; Criminal, Traffic and DUI defense; and Personal Injury cases. He practices regularly in all area Circuit, General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts.

After being peer reviewed by the bar and judiciary for legal ability and ethical behavior, Mr. Plumlee is proud to have received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest possible rating – AV Preeminent. Mr. Plumlee is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Criminal Law section of the Virginia State Bar, the Family Law section of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Trial Lawyer’s Association, the U.S. District Courts – Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and the Chesapeake Bar Association (Past President).

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

He has appeared on television numerous times as a Legal Analyst for various legal issues in the news, including the high profile cases of the DC snipers, John Allen Mohammad and Lee Boyd Malvo. During those trials alone, he appeared nearly daily on NBC, CNBC, MSNBC and/or WAVY TV 10. Mr. Plumlee has also been a speaker at a Continuing Legal Education seminar focusing on lawyers in the media, been a guest on a variety of radio programs and been a lecturer in a number of academic settings.

HOME LIFE

Mr. Plumlee is very active in his church and spends his free time with his wife and 4 daughters. He also loves coaching and is a Varsity Girls volleyball coach of a local school as well as a Coach and the Club Director of a youth volleyball organization he founded with his wife several years ago.

MATTHEW WOOTEN

MATTHEW WOOTEN

BACKGROUND

Matthew Wooten, a Chesapeake native, graduated from Greenbrier Christian Academy before going on to obtain a degree in International Business from Liberty University. He then returned home to complete his legal education at Regent University School of Law. He has been an attorney with Plumlee, Wooten & Overton, P.C. since graduating law school. Although Mr. Wooten’s practice consists predominantly of Criminal, Traffic and DUI defense, Personal Injury, Civil Litigation and Family law matters, he also has experience with contracts, estate planning and other transactional matters.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Mr. Wooten is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Criminal Law section of the Virginia State Bar and is the current President of the Chesapeake Bar Association.

HOME LIFE

Mr. Wooten lives in Chesapeake with his wife where they are active in their church. In his free time, Mr. Wooten enjoys coaching volleyball, golfing and traveling with his Wife and their Bernese Mountain Dog.
